The WMS Mission Statement
“We are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the
ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness to the world”.
The Theodora Mayo Women’s Missionary Society was
organized in November, 1991. The Society was named for
former Supervisor, Mrs. Theodora Mayo. The Society has
always been God led and mission focused.
At the Local level the outreach ministries include:
Ø Serving PADS, a homeless ministry.
Ø The Angel Tree Ministry, reaching out to the children of
incarcerated parents.
Ø Adoption of two nursing homes.
Ø Regular visits to our sick and shut in, bringing cheer,
fruit baskets, cooked meals.
Ø Hospital and Long Term Care Facility Visits.
Ø Support of the YPD Director and YPD in all of their
endeavors along with support of their Oak Forest
Hospital ministry.
Ø Adoption of the Tyde Phillips Elementary School in
Ford Heights, supplying new coats and school supplies.
Ø Support of all Church Ministries.
At the Area, Conference and District Levels:
Ø The Theodora Mayo Women’s Missionary Society is
very supportive of all levels in the District and the
Leadership is very proud to have representation from
our Society serving in various capacities on all levels.
Ø The Missionaries also support the Connectional
Women’s Missionary Society by sending representation
to meetings and conventions.
The Theodora Mayo Women’s Missionary Society meets the
second Sunday of every month following the morning worship
service.
